Regional training on scientific pitch

During the Science Summit of the UN General Assembly to be held in September 2022, each of the OHSEA projects will be broadcasted in the form of a short, pre-recorded pitch. In order to help them prepare those presentations, the project leaders were invited to participate in an eight-week program to develop their skills in science communication and help them develop their pitch for this event and also for whenever else they need to present their project to a broad audience. The activities started on Wednesday, June 15th, with a workshop introducing the main concepts of science communication and the particularities of the scientific pitch and will continue over the months of July and August with individual coaching sessions to work on each specific project. After a group feedback session at the end of August, all videos will be recorded and compiled for the event.

The training and coaching sessions are organized by Dr. Eugenia Covernton, who is a virologist by training and has been teaching science communication to students and researchers for several years. She is also the CEO of a non-profit NGO called Lecturers Without Borders that organizes science outreach activities in schools around the world.
