Éric Deharo
IRD representative in Laos

Pharm. D, PhD in infectious disease, researcher and IRD representative in Laos.
His work has encompassed the promotion of biodiversity through its use in traditional medicine for neglected diseases, including the development of laboratory models for the detection of bioactive compounds, and diagnostic tools for tropical parasitosis. He has worked in Bolivia, French Guiana, Peru and Lao PDR where he set up laboratory of experimental pharmacology in national universities and he has gained in-depth knowledge of working in Southern health contexts. He published more than 130 articles in international journals. He is leading many projects on many different to topics such as: Animal self-medication and human medicinal practice, COCLICAN European project , nutritional alternative for poor people, and sentinels of the biodiversity.

Serge Morand
Director of research at CNRS

Director of research at CNRS, he works on the ecology of health in Southeast Asia, more particularly on the links between biodiversity (conservation biology) and health (parasitic, infectious and zoonotic diseases, antibiotic resistance, pesticides) at the interfaces between human health, animal health (domestic and wildlife) and environmental health. Over the past ten years, he has coordinated some 30 field studies in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam, resulting in over 200 publications. He was appointed as one of 26 international experts to participate in the High Level Expert Group on the “One Health” approach by WHO, FAO, OIE and UNEP.

Clarisse Veylon-Hervet
Regional Counsellor in global health South-East Asia at the Embassy of France to Thailand.

Clarisse is a public health specialist who recently worked for the WHO Global TB Programme, where she was responsible for the implementation of the patient-centred approach in the development of national strategic plans. She is currently posted at the French Embassy, Thailand, in charge of monitoring the implementation of multilateral funds to which France contributes in the South East Asia region (Global Fund, GAVI, UNITAID).
In the framework of the FSPI One Health in Southeast Asia project, she is a member of the project office and coordinates the monitoring and steering committees. She contributes to strengthening the links between the different One Health approaches in the region, including with the embassies in each country in the area.

Thibaut Dutruel
Policy officer for Scientific & Academic co-operation

Thibaut draws a double background in science – Master’s degree in molecular and cellular Biology – and Management – MBA focusing on health industries.
At the Directorate-General for Global Affairs – MEAE, he focuses on enhancing S&T co-operation with countries from South Asia, South-East Asia and Japan and on promoting the crucial role of bi- and multilateral scientific partnerships to foster development in low- and middle-income countries.
